The City of Coppell is proud to announce that the Strategic Financial Engagement Department, formerly known as the Finance Department, has been awarded the Certificate of Distinction for its Investment Policy from the Government Treasurers’ Organization of Texas (GTOT). The Certificate of Distinction is awarded to state and local governments for their commitment to maintaining a comprehensive written investment policy.
GTOT’s Investment Policy Committee provides professional guidance in developing an investment policy and recognizes outstanding examples of written policies. The purpose of the program is to help develop investment policies suitable for public funds that fully comply with the Texas Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA). PFIA requires that Cities invest public funds under their control with the same prudence and discretion as entities that manage their own financial affairs. The award emphasizes the City’s dedication to financial safety, liquidity, and yield.
GTOT awards the certificate for a two-year period. The City first received this award in 2001 and has subsequently been recognized on a biannual basis.
