The City of Coppell is proud to announce Matia Messemer as the new Director of Employee EXperience. Messemer joins the City with nearly 20 years of experience in human resources. She has worked in the private, non-profit, and public sectors, spending the last nine years with the City of Hurst, Texas.
The City recently rebranded its human resources department to “Employee EXperience” to underscore the organizational commitment to employees. Messemer will take the helm of this newly reimagined department. Though the department has a new name, Messemer and the Employee EXperience team provide professional and strategic human resources services through a lens that is focused on employees. The transition to Employee EXperience was one of the things that drew Messemer to Coppell.
“Several years ago, there was a shift in thinking regarding organizational success focusing on creating and evaluating customer’s experiences,” she said. “Why not apply the same thinking to organizational health to create and think about employees’ experiences and how they can then impact the services we deliver to our residents?”
Messemer earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management. She is certified as a Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), an organization specializing in evolving and improving workspaces.
Messemer looks forward to stepping in and experiencing the City of Coppell’s strong organizational culture. She strives to honor that culture while creating opportunities for employees and prospective recruits to learn, develop, and grow in their service to residents.
