Parenting in today's world is a real challenge! Valley Ranch Baptist Church wants to provide resources to parents to raise kids well and build strong families. Hear from expert Dr. Shelly Melia about the crucial role parents play in raising children and students. Even if kids are already teenagers, it's not too late! They have lots of helpful content to run the race well and to finish strong. In their breakout sessions, they will tackle tough topics like talking to your kids about sex, raising good stewards, parenting in the digital age, coping with pressure, and more! They will have fun activities for your children and students, too. Don’t miss it! The cost is $20 per person or $30 for couples. Saturday Make & Take Crafts

Stop by anytime between 9 am and noon to create a free craft! Kids ages 3 – 12 will receive a do-it-yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center. A parent must accompany all children at all times.
Introduction to Vegetable Gardening Class

In perfect timing for the planting season, Keep Coppell Beautiful is offering two class opportunities to get tips on how to grow your own food. Local grower Amanda Vanhoozier will be presenting this popular class on organic vegetable gardening for a healthier 2022. Amanda, flower farmer at Bishop Hill Farm Flowers, will mix in growing flowers as vegetable companions. Amanda is a passionate local food advocate who has been instrumental in the growth and success of Coppell Community Gardens and the Coppell Farmers Market. Two class times offered, space is limited, and registration for either class is required.

My Frida Exhibit Artist Call & Free Workshop

All aspiring artists ages 5 – 14 are invited to submit artwork for the “My Frida” Exhibit, which celebrates work inspired by the self-portraits created by Mexican Painter Frida Kahlo. This free workshop is for those who would like help with their artwork. Pieces must be delivered to the Coppell Arts Center by 5 pm Friday, February 11. Coppell Lions Club 35th Annual Pancake Breakfast

It is that time of year for the 35th Annual Pancake Breakfast! The breakfast is $5 per person or a max of $20 for a family. There will be free diabetes testing, the Carter Blood Drive and Gluten Free pancakes can be provided if requested. All proceeds benefit the Coppell Lions Club serving the community of Coppell since 1983.

FCNP Wild Orchids of Texas, Cultivated Orchids of the World

Join Stephanie Varnum, North Texas Master Naturalist, and Charles Hess, Southwest Region Orchid Growers Association, for a fascinating presentation. Did you know there is a rare orchid that grows in the wild here in North Texas? Learn about an on-going citizen science project Stephanie leads to survey a specific species each year. Charles will speak about growing orchids. Everyone attending will receive a free Orchid-gami page. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Coppell Historical Society Meeting

Memories of 1970s Coppell and beyond will be shared by former Coppell Postmaster Ginger Ware at the February 12 meeting of the Coppell Historical Society. The public is invited. Ware and her husband Dale, who served as a Coppell City Councilman, came to Coppell in 1971, when Ginger served as postmaster in a small post office building on S. Coppell Road, the site of Darling Homes today. Ware will trace the history of Coppell's post office and the city's growth during her tenure. Heritage Park, under by the old windmill, will begin opening for visitors every Saturday from 10 am – noon starting February 5. Tours will originate at the Minyard Store & Gift Shop, a replica store currently selling vintage candy and merchandise. For more information, visit the Coppell Historical Society website.

Adulting: Healthy Relationships

In recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, the Cozby Library invites high school students and new adults (ages 18-25) to Adulting: Healthy Relationships. This educational program is presented by Ryan S. Thomas from Hope's Door New Beginning Center. Ryan’s presentation discusses the foundations of healthy relationships such as respect, communication skills, boundaries, and self-awareness. The presentation will define abuse and include information about power dynamics, abuser tactics, warning signs, and how to help oneself or others. This interactive presentation includes discussions, video clips, games, and activities. This educational program is best suited for high school students and new adults (18-25).

Crochet Hook Up

This is an opportunity for crocheters of any skill level to get together and socialize. Bring your work and hang out, or get some tips from others if you are struggling with a particular skill. This is not a formal teaching experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies; however we will have some to share. Participants may take completed work home, but all other library supplies must stay at the library. This program is for adults ages 18 and up. You do not need to register, but if you would like a reminder for the program you may register.
