EcoExplorer

The EcoExplorer program is venturing outdoors. Activity Kits will be available for pick up at the office window during visitor hours. Kits contain instructions and materials to complete learning activities throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Themes change weekly and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page. Limit one kit per child. Take your trail experience up a notch! Make & Take Saturday Children’s Crafts

Struggling with math? Need some additional prep and guidance for the Math SAT section? Receive peer tutoring from CISD seniors Nitish Elango and Bhavesh Mandalapu. Nitish and Bhavesh run the YouTube Channel Infinity Prep and want to use their skills to help you!

Grab a blanket and join The Cozby Library and Community Commons for storytime outdoors in Town Center Plaza! They will sing, dance, and enjoy stories. Please stay together with your group and maintain social distancing from others. All ages welcome. Town Center Plaza is located behind the library. They will be by the Storybook Walk, near the YMCA. In the event of adverse weather, storytime will be canceled.

Adult Traffic Safety Class

If you've ever wondered what to do when you hear emergency sirens and see lights in your rearview mirror, join Coppell Fire Department and AAA Texas at Life Safety Park to learn about how you should safely and responsibly react. Adult Mental Health

People all need help with coping strategies and learning the best methods to take care of ourselves. Adults are invited to join Cozby Library and Community Commons for an evening with Chris Guzniczak, LPC, to discuss mental health strategies for adults. Chris Guzniczak will explore harnessing negative feelings for reflection and growth, strategies for managing and identifying emotions, how to change your perspective and thought patterns, and maintaining a sense of self. For adults 18 and older.

Adult CPR-AED

CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. Visit LifeSafetyPark.org to register. 

 

Friends of Coppell Nature Park Guided Hikes

Our local ecosystem is full of natural wonders. Venture out on a guided hike with the Friends of Coppell Nature Park. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle.

 

Geology & Fossils of Coppell Nature Park

Just in time for National Fossil Day on October 13! Dr. David Goodner, geology instructor at North Lake College presents his thoughtful, hands-on tour of the nature park describing the geology of our area and the fossils that comprise the specific geological history of the park. Register for this free event online

 

Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story

The "World's Most Successful Rock' n' Roll Musical" continues to thrill audiences around the world. Buddy tells the story of Buddy Holly through his short yet spectacular career and features the classic songs, That'll Be The Day, Not Fade Away, Oh Boy, Ritchie Valens' La Bamba, The Big Bopper's Chantilly Lace, and many more! Family Trivia with a Twist

Paint & Sip with Createria Studios

Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of our two-hour painting classes. We'll provide all the painting supplies so you can enjoy a stress-free evening with your instructor Kate Shema of Createria Studios. There will be a different themed painting each month. And as for the sip part of the event, a selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase at the bar. Other than water, outside beverages are not permitted. Shariah Law Theory and Practice

The term "Shariah Law" has been used a lot lately, but have you wondered what it actually means? Join us at the Cozby Library and Community Commons to learn about Shariah Laws and their different interpretations in the Islamic Faith. In an open civil forum, local scholars and Coppellian Muslims will examine the purpose of the Shariah, it's ultimate goal, and whether it is misunderstood. The speakers will also answer questions from the audience.

Assistance League of Coppell October Meeting

Assistance League of Coppell is a non-profit organization that has transformed the lives of children and adults in the Coppell area for over 20 years. They have a wide range of philanthropic programs including Operation School Bell, which clothes, feeds and provides supplies to students in CISD. Helping Hearts is their program dedicated to improving the lives of residents of local senior living centers, and Youth Today is a program dedicated to drug and alcohol prevention in the schools. Please join them for the next general meeting on October 21 at Valley Ranch Baptist Church, 1501 E. Beltline Road. Lunch is served at 11:30 am and the meeting begins at noon. Trick or Treat on the Trails

The BEC is excited to offer you a special treat: Trick or Treat on the Trails! Dress up in your favorite costume and bring your goody bag. No registration is required. Stations will be along the paved path running through Coppell Nature Park. This is a teal pumpkin-friendly event.

Assisteens October Meeting

Assisteens is Assistance League of Coppell’s teen auxiliary. Open to CISD students and Coppell residents in grades 7-12, Assisteens offers students the opportunity to make a difference in our community. In the past year, Assisteens members have mentored elementary age CISD students, made blankets for residents of St. Joseph and River Oaks Assisted Living Centers, collected shoes for Soles4Soles, and volunteered with Sack Summer Hunger. If you are interested in finding out more information about Assisteens or would like to join the organization, please plan to attend their general meeting. Coppell Lions Club General Meeting

Each meeting includes the discussion of current and planned activities, as well as frequent guest speakers who discuss issues in and around Coppell, North Texas and Texas as a whole. Meetings are open to anyone that would like to attend. You can contact the club and arrange for a member to sponsor you into the meeting.

 

Cranium Cardio

Fitness isn’t just about squats, lunges, and cardio – it’s also about staying mentally nimble. Join us as we engage the brain in thinking tasks to help build brain connections. Think of it as “Cranium Cardio”. Remember more, concentrate better, and think sharper, while having fun in the process! This program will be on Zoom and in person at the Senior Center. Craft Casual: Paper Garland

Learn to create a paper garland with a variety of hanging ornaments made of recycled maps. This simple idea can be used to make all kinds of decorations. All supplies provided by the library. This program is for adults 18 and up. Participants must register.

Grab a blanket and join Cozby Library and Community Commons for storytime outdoors in Town Center Plaza! They will sing, dance, and enjoy stories. Please stay together with your group and maintain social distancing from others. All ages welcome. Town Center Plaza is located behind the library. They will be by the Storybook Walk, near the YMCA. In the event of adverse weather, storytime will be canceled.
