Per an Executive Order issued by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, masks or similar facial coverings will be required in certain public spaces within Dallas County, including childcare centers, Pre-K-12 public schools, businesses and County-owned facilities effective Thursday, August 12, 2021.
The Order does not extend to City of Coppell facilities. While visitors to City of Coppell facilities – including, but not limited to, Town Center, The CORE, the Cozby Library and the Senior and Community Center – are not required to wear a mask, the City of Coppell encourages patrons to do so.
The order, which will remain in effect until rescinded by Dallas County Judge Jenkins, specifies the following:
- Pre-K Through 12 Public Schools and Childcare Centers: All childcare centers and Pre-K through 12 public schools operating in Dallas County must develop and implement a health and safety policy requiring universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, except for children under 2 years of age.
- Commercial Entities: All commercial entities in Dallas County providing goods or services directly to the public must develop and implement a health and safety policy requiring universal indoor masking for all employees and visitors. The Health and Safety Policy must be placed in conspicuous location sufficient to provide notice to employees and visitors of all health and safety requirements.
- Dallas County Buildings: All employees, contractors, and visitors to a building or offices owned or operated by Dallas County are required to wear a face mask, regardless of vaccination status.
- General Public strongly urged to use face coverings: It is strongly urged that all people 2 years or older wear a face mask when in a public indoor space.
The health and safety of the community and staff remains a priority. Residents are encouraged to be respectful of other patrons, keep a six-foot distance from others, and wash hands regularly.
City services are available remotely, and multiple options are available for residents to contact the City of Coppell. Those with City business are encouraged to visit the website, coppelltx.gov, or call 972-462-0022.
Protective Measures Taken at City Facilities
Stringent cleaning procedures remain in place at city facilities, and various spaces are equipped with protective barriers to decrease direct contact. Floor markers have been placed at many facilities to encourage social distancing. Further, the City has invested in UV air purification technology at Town Center, Coppell Arts Center, and the Service Center.
