Youth and Adult Co-Ed is now open! Coppell FC Select (U11-U17) open practices are June 1 - June 30. Register online and go to the Coppell FC website for more information.  


Hygiene Drive

June 1 – July 31  |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

When we think of donation drives, we first think of canned goods during the holiday months, but hygiene items are in high demand all year long. This summer, the library will be collecting hygiene items like shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and laundry detergent for Metrocrest Services. Virtual Pet Parade

June 1 – July 31  |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Send the Cozby Library and Community Commons a picture of your pets! They’ll compile them all in a video at the end of the summer to make a Virtual Pet Parade. Your picture may also be displayed in the library. You can email your photo to us, send it to us on social media, or bring a print in to the library.

The first step to learning about nature is observation. As you explore Coppell Nature Park, pause from time to time to get in 'touch' with your senses through sights, sounds, and smells. Trail Days are designed for families and youth ages 3-14. Drop-in during open hours to learn about a theme in nature by exploring various activity stations on the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Maps are provided. Please arrive with enough time to complete activities before the close time. This program is FREE of charge and registration is not required.

The Music Man Under the Stars

Ready for some Tails and Tales? It’s summer reading time! Readers of all ages are invited to pick up everything you need for summer reading (and an extra treat!) at our drive-through kick-off in the library parking lot. If you can’t make it to the library for the drive-through kick-off, don’t worry! You can pick up summer reading materials inside the library or at the drive-up window during regular hours, as long as supplies last.


Make & Take Saturday Children’s Crafts

How about a fun, creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center one Saturday each month for free make-and-take craft workshops. Stop by between 9 am and noon to create your craft. For children ages 3-12 accompanied by an adult.


Drive-In at the Coppell Arts Center featuring Madagascar

The Drive-In Movies Series is back at the Coppell Arts Center! The June 5th movie is Madagascar. Rated PG and runs for 1 hour and 26 minutes. Tickets to the Drive-In are sold per vehicle for $15. The Parking Lot opens at 8 pm and spots are first-come, first served. The movie will start at 8:30 pm. Concessions will be available on-site for purchase. Art House Kids Art Class

June 10  |  4:30 – 6 pm  |  Coppell Arts Center

Exercise the imagination at the ARThouse. This class is designed for children ages 7-10 to help them learn and develop fine motor skills by creating art! Your child will practice using scissors, holding a pencil and paintbrush, and much more through drawing, painting, and sculpting. Classes are limited in size, so sign your child up today! During this class, your child will learn the history and techniques behind watercolor and create a sunset flower painting. Please purchase 1 ticket per child. All materials included with ticket purchase. Parents are welcome to drop off their child or stay during the class in the Arts Center in the Mr. Cooper Group Lobby Gallery. No experience necessary for any of these classes. Classes are available to children aged 7 to 10 years old. The class is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the children will individually work on the same project that they will bring home at the end of the class. Raptors of North Texas

June 19 |   10 – 11 am   |   Biodiversity Education Center

Day and night the raptors are on patrol. Their mission: in search of a meal. How do they do it? Discover their unique adaptations to hunt in woodland, wetlands and prairies. Raptors of different species and sizes will be used to demonstrate their capabilities. The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, will discuss and demonstrate the raptors that call North Texas home. View live birds to see their characteristics and exceptional hunting abilities. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required. This program will be held outdoors. Please bring your own chair or picnic blanket. 


Fun things to Do with Your Dog (In Person)

June 19  |   10 am   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Tracy Allard and Laura Bartoli, Certified Professional Dog Trainers with Camp Bow Wow Coppell, will show you some fun things you can do with your dogs in and around the Metroplex and how to do them safely. Learn ways to make a trip to the dog park fun for both you and your dog, competitive obedience, and even how to give your canine CPR. For adults 18 and older. Children may attend with an adult. Space is limited and registration is required. Class will be held outside in the Town Center Plaza, which is located behind the library. **Please leave your canine companion at home for this class**

Teen Magic Class (In Person)

Teens will have enormous fun watching James perform some of the amazing magic tricks that he has used to entertain and baffle audiences around the world! After performing each trick, James teaches how it’s done! This isn’t just a show and tell, however. James is an excellent teacher and makes sure each and every child practice and learns the tricks, giving personal attention to each child. From the super-confident, hyper kids to the very quiet shy ones, a guaranteed absolutely fabulous time will be had by all! For teens entering grades 6 - 12. Registration is required

Paint and Sip

Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of our two-hour painting classes. We’ll provide all the painting supplies so you can enjoy a stress-free evening with your instructor Kate Shema of Createria Studios. And as for the sip part of the event, a selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase at the bar. *Other than water, outside beverages are not permitted. The classes are 6 - 8 pm. and participants will individually work on the same theme, painting a Hibiscus flower. No experience necessary, just an open spirit and willingness to have fun! Friends of Coppell Nature Park Guided Hike

June 26 |   9 – 10 am   |   Biodiversity Education Center

Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is FREE of charge. No registration is required. 

 

Remembering You: Sharing Our Sibling Stories

June 26  |   9:30 am – 12:30 pm   |   Online Event

A time created for siblings to gather, remember, celebrate, and discuss life after sibling loss in a safe, understanding space. Do you have a space to share, be heard, remember and celebrate your sibling? The Remembering You event is your place! For siblings ages 7 and older. Participants will be placed in age-appropriate groups for discussion and community. Once Registered, a Zoom Link will be sent to the registrant's email address.

Dog Days of Summer:  Fashion Show & Adoption Event

June 26  |  10 am – 1 pm  |  Coppell Arts Center

Is your dog a star? We're rolling out the red carpet for every VIP: Very Important Pup with a fashion show and more! This free event is from 10 am to 1 pm on June 26th outside on the Grove at the Coppell Arts Center. Come watch the fashion show, that starts at 11 am or find your next best friend with the help of an on-site animal adoption agency. Join us for pet family photos, food trucks, local pet-related vendors, and more! *A $10 Registration fee is required for your dog to participate in the Fashion Show. Cranium Cardio

June 28  |   1 pm  |   Virtual & In person at Coppell Senior & Community Center

Fitness isn’t just about squats, lunges, and cardio – it’s also about staying mentally nimble. Join us as we engage the brain in thinking tasks to help build brain connections. Think of it as “Cranium Cardio”. Remember more, concentrate better, and think sharper, while having fun in the process! Intended for adults ages 50+. Coppell Senior & Community Center members may register at coppellactivities.com. This program will be on Zoom and in person at the Senior Center. Class is limited to 20. 

 

Craft Casual (In Person)

June 28  |   6:30 pm   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons 

Learn to make a simple craft in a relaxed setting. All supplies provided by the library. This month they will make decorative paper flowers. These flowers can be made in multiple shapes and sizes for a great personalized touch. For adults aged 18 and up. Registration is required


Yoga and a Hike

June 29 |   8 – 10 am   |   Biodiversity Education Center

Start your week with relaxing outdoor yoga followed by an invigorating guided hike through Coppell Nature Park. Participants must bring their own mats. Registration is required and space limited. $3 fee.


EcoExplorer

June 29 |   9 am - Noon   |   Biodiversity Education Center

The EcoExplorer program is venturing outdoors. Activity Kits will be available for pick up at the office window during visitor hours. Kits contain instructions and materials to complete learning activities throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Themes change weekly and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page. Limit one kit per child. Take your trail experience up a notch! Roleplaying Game Day (In Person)

June 29  |  5:30 pm   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Join the Cozby Library and Community Commons for an in-person roleplaying event! Have fun pretending to be someone else as you work with others to save the day! Character sheets and dice provided. Game: Oh, Dang! Bigfoot Stole My Car with My Friend’s Birthday Present Inside. For teens entering grades 6 - 12. Registration is required

  

Outdoor Storytime (In Person)

June 30  |   9 am   |   Town Center Plaza

Join the Cozby Library and Community Commons for storytime outdoors in Town Center Plaza! Together they will sing, dance, and enjoy stories. Please stay with your group and maintain social distancing from others. Town Center Plaza is located behind the library. All ages welcome.

 

Who Eats What? Trail Day

June 30  |   10 am – Noon   |   Biodiversity Education Center

Discover how different organisms are adapted for a particular diet and how they interact through the food web. Trail Days are designed for families and youth ages 3-14. Drop-in during open hours to learn about a theme in nature by exploring various activity stations on the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Maps are provided. Please arrive with enough time to complete activities before the close time. This program is FREE of charge and registration is not required.
