[ARCHIVED] Living with Wildlife in Coppell

With spring in full swing, residents may have noticed an uptick in urban wildlife activity. If you catch a glimpse of a bobcat, raccoon, fox, or coyote, don’t be alarmed! They are natural inhabitants of Coppell and will generally do their best to avoid humans. While peaceful coexistence with wildlife is always the goal, there are some things you can do to deter them from becoming frequent visitors of your property:

  • Don’t ever intentionally feed or approach wildlife
  • Pick up any kind of food or water source that could attract animals such as pet food and water dishes, bird seed or fallen fruit from trees
  • Remove piles of brush and trim shrubbery to eliminate hiding places for animals
  • Do not leave small pets outside unattended

For more information and several helpful resources about area wildlife, please visit the City of Coppell’s Living with Wildlife page. If you see an animal acting strangely or have any other concerns, please contact Coppell Animal Services at 972-304-3515.
