City Lifts Stage 2 Watering Restrictions

Thanks to the cooler temperatures, recent rainfall, and cooperation from residents and businesses, the City of Coppell has rescinded Stage 2 Watering Restrictions, effective September 18, 2023.

“Over the last week, we have seen water demand drop to below 90% of our allotted maximum,” said Mike Garza, Director of Public Works. “We have also been able to fully fill our ground storage tanks, meaning we can safely lift the restrictions and revert back to Stage 1.”

Under Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency and Water Conservation Plan, residents and businesses may irrigate their properties any day of the week. No outside watering is allowed between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm, with the exception of hand watering, the use of non-spray irrigation systems, and the use of soaker hoses, which will be allowed all days, at all times.

“Thank you to everyone who voluntarily helped us conserve water this summer,” Garza said. “We know the watering restrictions were inconvenient, and your cooperation allowed us to make it through the extreme heat while still providing the high level of service our customers expect.”
