EcoExplorer
August 1 - 31 | 9 am – Noon Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday | Biodiversity Education Center
Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park, and the seasonal programs offered. While you’re there, learn about the local environment through self-guided activities and interactive resources. Then, take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers!
Free Pop-up Program: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
August 1 | 10 - 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center
Children begin their journey as stewards of the environment by learning how to help our planet by reducing use, reusing items, and recycling plastics and paper. From here, they will play a game to test their knowledge. They will then reuse a t-shirt by upcycling it into a bag. Spots are limited! Please pick up your ticket during EcoExplorer visiting hours (9 am - noon) the day of the event.
Geocache Treasure Hunt
August 2 | 10 am - Noon | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Join the BEC for a family-friendly, high-tech treasure hunt! Discover how to utilize GPS on your personal mobile device to locate hidden treasures throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. A series of GPS coordinates will lead you to each prize! Registration is required for each child participant, and children must be supervised by an adult caregiver. An email with details and instructions will be sent to registrants one week prior to the program date. The cost is $10 per person.
Coppell Historical Society – Kirkland House Tours
August 2 - 4 | Wednesday – Friday 11 am – 5 pm and Saturday 10 am – 1 pm | Kirkland House
Built in 1904, the family home of John M. And Edna Jeanette Kirkland and their children, Hubert, Lois, Sallie, Jewel (Jack), Stringfellow, Louise, Carroll, and one who died in infancy, is open for tours. It was moved from its original location 474 feet due west and restored in 2011 by The Jean and Price Daniel Foundation, the Coppell Historical Society, and the City of Coppell.

The Coppell Farmers Market is the best unique, small market in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey, and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement. Open every Saturday 8 am - Noon.
FCNP Guided Hike: Nature Photography
August 5 | 9 - 10 am | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem. The hike will be led by Brennan Fruge, Digital Art and Photography instructor at Coppell High School. Please bring your professional camera and lenses if you have them. The tips and techniques shared by Mr. Fruge will be easier to try out on a professional camera than on a phone camera. Participants should wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. Registration is required for each participant. Children must be supervised by an adult caregiver.

Theatre Coppell – Rounding Third

Rounding Third, is a funny yet thought-provoking look at Little League baseball. Two mismatched fathers/coaches – one a seasoned veteran and the other a rookie newcomer – comically struggle on philosophies of the game, parenthood, and the true meaning of success. Their clash of styles and wills drives this funny and touching play through the bumpy terrain of fatherhood and baseball. As they struggle with the junior version of the national pastime, the men's markedly different personal circumstances and philosophies force them to journey onto life's playing field – where knowing how to succeed is all that matters. Tickets are $22 for adults and $19 for seniors and students, plus fees.
