The City and its departments host a variety of family-friendly events each month from festivals and concerts to storytimes and workshops. Visit the City of Coppell’s online calendar for a list of this month’s offerings. 

 

EcoExplorer

March 2 - 30   |   9 am – Noon Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday   |   Biodiversity Education Center

Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park, and the seasonal programs offered. While you’re there, learn about the local environment through self-guided activities and interactive resources. Then, take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers! Themes last two weeks and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page.

 

Theatre Coppell – The Odd Couple

March 3 - 5  |  Friday and Saturday 8:00 pm and Sunday 2:30pm  |  Coppell Arts Center

This Tony award-winning classic comedy centers around uptight, neat Felix Ungar and easygoing, disheveled Oscar Madison as new roommates. Two suddenly single pals – a sloppy sportswriter and a fastidious news writer – strain their friendship by becoming roommates and unconsciously repeating the same mistakes they made in the marriages they just left. Neil Simon's classic 1965 comedy has at its heart, a story of individuals trying to connect through their differences and trying to make their way through difficult times. Loyalty and kindness overcome personality quirks and differences. Tickets are available at online at Coppell Arts Center

  

FCNP Saturday Guided Hikes

March 4  |   9 - 10 am   |   Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park

Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of the local ecosystem.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required. Open to all ages.

 

Saturday Make & Take Crafts

March 4  |  9 am  |  Coppell Arts Center – The Mr. Copper Group Lobby Gallery

How about a fun, creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center located in Old Town Coppell one Saturday each month for free make-and-take craft workshops. Stop by anytime between 9 am – noon to create your craft. Kids will receive a do-it-yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center. A parent must accompany all children at all times.

 

Coppell Community Orchestra Presents: Musician’s Choice

March 5 | 3 pm | Coppell Arts Center
Join us for an eclectic afternoon as the Coppell Community Orchestra musicians craft the show! Featured selections will be chosen by our musicians and performed by the Coppell Community Orchestra. Visit coppellartscenter.org for tickets.

 

Nature’s Workshop: Flower and Leaf Press

March 8 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center

Expand your passion for learning about nature by creating a craft. This month we will create flower and leaf presses. Registration is required. For ages 6 – 8. 

 

Exploring Nature Series: Plants

March 9 | 9 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center

Through hands-on explorations and outdoor adventures, learners gain the knowledge and skills to become lovers of nature and responsible stewards of the environment. A different learning theme is offered each month during the school year. Sign up for each theme according to your interest and/or availability. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear protective clothing for outdoor activity. Parents must sign child(ren) in and out upon drop-off and pick-up. Registration is required. For ages 9 – 12. 

 

Sunset Socials: Movie in the Park – “Ratatouille”

March 10 | 7 – 9 pm | Andrew Brown Park East

Grab your blankets and chairs, and scurry on over to Andrew Brown East for an evening showing of “Ratatouille!” Before the movie begins, come learn some new skills with a cooking demonstration, and be sure to stop by the craft table to create a keepsake item! Grab some free popcorn, or purchase dinner and dessert from a food truck.

 

FCNP Environmental Education Series: Frisky Flowers in the Garden

March 11 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center

Janet Smith, North Texas Master Naturalist and Master Gardener, shares insights into the ecological interactions of garden life and the reproductive strategies of various plant species. Discover clever flower adaptations that lure pollinators to ensure successive generations. You will gain a new perspective of gardens from this photo-rich presentation! This free class is hosted by Friends of Coppell Nature Park and registration is required. For ages 16+.

 

Spring Break Safety Classes

March 13 - 17  |   Life Safety Park

Looking for ways to keep the kids engaged over spring break? Life Safety Park will be hosting free safety classes for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 9th grade! Topics vary by age, but all lessons include a hands-on learning activity. Registration is free but required. Visit LifeSafetyPark.org for more info.

 

Spring Break Kids Art Classes

March 13 - 17  |  Coppell Arts Center – Vari Studio Workspace

Send the kids off for the morning to make art during spring break. Bring a friend or sibling for some fun creative time! There are five exciting opportunities to create festive art! Visit the Coppell Arts Center online to view the different classes and register. 

 

Geocache Treasure Hunt

March 14 | 1 – 3  pm | Biodiversity Education Center

Join the BEC for a family-friendly, high-tech treasure hunt! Discover how to utilize GPS on your personal mobile device to locate hidden treasures throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. A series of GPS coordinates will lead you to each prize! Registration is required for each child participant, and children must be accompanied by an adult. An email with details and instructions will be sent upon registration. For ages 7 – 18. 

  

March Paint & Sip: Spring Market Ride

February 15  |   6 pm   |   Coppell Arts Center – Reception Hall

Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of their two-hour painting classes. Tickets are $30 and available online

March 24 | 7 – 9 pm | Square at Old Town Coppell

Don’t go breaking our hearts…Bennie, The Jets, EVERYONE is invited to enjoy an evening of live music in Old Town from the musical talent of The Elton Johns! Dinner and dessert will be available to purchase from a variety of food trucks. 

 

FCNP Introduction to the Night Sky

March 25 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center

Join the Coppell High School Astronomy Club students and learn fun facts about the night sky. The students have designed this presentation and are excited to teach others about the wondrous sky. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required for each participant.

 

Coppell Community Chorale Presents: Ladies’ Choice

March 25 | 7 pm | Coppell Arts Center

Have you ever wondered what really goes on during a Variations’ Ladies rehearsal? Well, get a behind the scenes look as the ladies explore some of their favorite songs. It’s their most ambitious concert yet. Visit coppellartscenter.org for tickets.

 

Budding Curiosity: Sunflowers

March 27 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center

Join the BEC staff for an education program that builds on a sense of wonder, inviting youth to explore nature and the world around them. Through activities and crafts, this program reinforces a foundation for developing positive impressions about nature. Adults are encouraged to actively participate with their children and enjoy learning together. Registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For ages 3 – 5. 

 

18th Metrocrest Services Annual Keyholder Breakfast

March 28  |  7:30 - 9 am  |  Courtyard – Marriot Dallas Carrolton Conference Center

Join Metrocrest Services as they gather to discuss how their new building will become a community gathering space that lays the foundation needed to create a thriving community for all. Funds raised at the event will support current operations and expanded programming when they move to their new home later this year. Sponsorships and tickets are on sale now!
