Construction operations for the DART Silver Line are ongoing, and a portion of Mockingbird Lane is temporarily closed to allow crews to safely complete railroad crossing work. Crews will also be working in a portion of S Belt Line Road to install bridge beams in the coming weeks.
S Belt Line Road Closure & Construction Activity
DART crews are expected to begin setting bridge beams along S Belt Line Road from Southwestern to Sanders Loop on Monday, March 13. Traffic impacts are not expected as these beams are being installed, but flaggers will be present to allow trucks to enter and exit the construction site.
S Belt Line Road from Southwestern to Sanders Loop will be closed from 8 pm to 5 am on March 17-18 to allow DART crews to complete beam installation.
Mockingbird Lane Closure
Work on the railroad crossing at Mockingbird Lane and S Belt Line Road began Monday, February 27. The southbound lane of Mockingbird Lane is closed. Southbound traffic has been detoured around the construction zone.
Once work on the southbound side is completed, crews will close the northbound lane. Northbound traffic will be detoured around the construction zone.
While the City of Coppell is not a participant in the transit system, DART is constructing a Silver Line station in neighboring Cypress Waters. The 26-mile Silver Line will extend from DFW Airport to Shiloh Road in Plano and traverse seven cities, including Coppell. The Silver Line will provide passenger rail connections and service that will improve mobility, accessibility, and system linkages to major employment, population, and activity centers in the DFW metroplex. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
