Construction operations for the DART Silver Line are ongoing, and portions of S. Belt Line Road and Mockingbird Lane will soon be temporarily closed to allow crews to safely complete bridge beam installation and railroad crossing work.
S. Belt Line Road Closure & Construction Activity
S. Belt Line Road from Southwestern Boulevard to Sanders Loop will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, February 24 to 4 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, weather permitting, to allow DART crews to install bridge beams. Traffic will be detoured to Sanders Loop to bypass the construction zone.
From Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 3, crews will continue to set bridge beams in the area during the daytime hours. No road closures are expected while this work is being completed, but flaggers will be present to allow trucks to enter and exit the construction site.
Mockingbird Lane Closure
DART crews will also be performing work on the railroad crossing at Mockingbird Lane and S. Belt Line Road. Beginning on Monday, February 27, the southbound lane of Mockingbird Lane will be closed. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the construction zone.
Once work on the southbound side is completed, crews will close the northbound lane. Northbound traffic will be detoured around the construction zone.
While the City of Coppell is not a participant in the transit system, DART is constructing a Silver Line station in neighboring Cypress Waters. The 26-mile Silver Line will extend from DFW Airport to Shiloh Road in Plano and traverse seven cities, including Coppell. The Silver Line will provide passenger rail connections and service that will improve mobility, accessibility, and system linkages to major employment, population, and activity centers in the DFW metroplex. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
