Fire & Life Safety

The Coppell Fire Department has won national recognition for its hard work and community outreach efforts. The Coppell Fire Department has achieved a Class 1 rating from the Insurance Service Office (ISO), which is the best rating possible. This rating has been awarded to less than one percent of fire departments nationwide. Because of this rating, Coppell residents and businesses enjoy a decrease in their insurance premiums.

Recognitions & Awards

The Coppell Fire Department has been recognized as a Texas Fire Chiefs Association (TFCA) “Best Practices Fire Department.” This designation has been awarded to less than one percent of fire departments in Texas. The “Best Practices Fire Department” designation is awarded to organizations that seek continual improvement in their service to the local community, and organizations are evaluated on multiple categories that were developed by Fire Service professionals. The categories cover all aspects of Fire Department management and services, including: administration, emergency medical service, fire prevention, risk reduction, community outreach, safety and health, and professional standards and conduct.

Emergency Medical Services

The department provides award-winning Emergency Medical Services, and all Fire Department members are credentialed to the highest level of EMT-Paramedic certification. The Coppell Fire Department maintains three, full-time ambulances for patient transport, and the ambulances are classified at the highest level of Mobile Intensive Care Units from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Further, all support vehicles and fire trucks are staffed and equipped at the same high level.

Educational Outreach

While our firefighters offer immediate service to community members in need and train to provide the best care possible, they also actively promote fire and general safety to the community by visiting local schools, daycares, and participating in many City-sponsored events.

The Coppell Fire Department offers numerous classes and training programs to residents. Emergency Medical Services personnel routinely perform free blood pressure checks, do child seat installation inspections, and give tours of the fire stations and equipment. Further, upon request, the Coppell firefighters make home visits to inspect and install smoke detectors.

Coppell’s Life Safety Park, which is operated by the Fire Department, also continues to serve residents by providing safety training to adults, children and local businesses. Life Safety Park coordinates with Coppell Independent School District and other local educational institutions to organize field trips offering interactive and educational safety classes for children of all ages, both during the school year and during semester breaks. Life Safety Park also extends its community influence by offering meeting spaces free of charge, and all meeting attendees receive a brief safety lesson during their visit.
